FLD account setup - My Advice Architect® / AdviceWorks® (2 of 2)
Opening a new FLD account requires two steps:
- Set up the account in Symplany℠ One and
- Submit the My Advice Architect® (MAA) and AdviceWorks® (AW) paperwork (see below)
This article covers the second step in this process (i.e. the MAA proposal and AW steps).
NSInvestments can help answer any account opening questions you have.
⚠️ Visit AdviceWorks® (AW) to find the most up-to-date help documentation on how to create a proposal in MAA or submit the proper account opening paperwork in AW.
I. My Advice Architect® (MAA)
New accounts start with a proposal in My Advice Architect® (MAA).
These steps do not cover every aspect of the account opening process, this only covers the steps unique to opening an FLD account.

- Risk & Objective
The investment objective you select in MAA (not pictured) should correspond with the model selected in Symplany One (e.g. Aggressive Growth, Moderately Aggressive, etc.)
- Account Strategy > Select a program
✅ For all FLD accounts, select Spectrum Advisor-FLD
- Select Investment Product > Product name
Select the model that corresponds with what you selected in Symplany One
Note: you may need to scroll through several pages to find the strategy you're looking for; strategies are listed alphabetically.
- Fees > Edit
- We get a lot of questions about what to enter here. Feel free to reach out.
- The Client Fee has three components
- Advisor fee
- Spectrum fee (i.e. Program Fee)
- FLD fee (i.e. Other Fee)
- MAA only lets you edit the Advisor fee, not the total Client fee. The client fee is automatically calculated after you enter your Advisor Fee.
If you want help calculating your fee schedule, check out this helpful tool: FLD Fee Schedule Calculator
Note: Once you've entered your fee schedule, if you plan to use this same fee schedule for other clients, you can save it as a template and avoid manually entering this information next time.
